Thunder Thighs: Necessary for Your Sanity
Singing, thrifting, looking glam, and more...

I know, y’all. My last couple of emails have not been the most uplifting. But in the midst of overwhelm, I’m still managing to live my best (possible) life.
I’ve been having fun thrifting. My choir is giving me life. And I got some headshots done up by Maria Baptiste, who is an absolute miracle worker (check her out, New Jersey folks! You can see some of my other faves from the shoot here).
What else?
Read
In Bloom by Liz Allan
This book isn’t out until January, but it’s definitely worth having on your radar. The book description says it best: it’s a story of class differences and coming of age as a group of best friends investigates allegations against their favorite teacher. I loved the mid-’90s vibes, I loved the Greek chorus-style POV, and I very much appreciated its nuanced approach to girlhood and sexual abuse and feeling othered.
“To Be a Woman Is to Be in Pain” by Lyz Lenz
In this piece from her newsletter, Lyz starts by writing about the various ways in which women are expected to swallow their pain—to the point where our pain has been normalized—eventually wending her way to the latest news on how even more funding is being cut for research on women’s health. And let me tell you, research specific to women’s health wasn’t that fantastically comprehensive as it is.
“#MeToo Didn’t Go Far Enough” by Lyz Lenz
And because she’s just killing it over at her newsletter, here’s another one on how the #MeToo movement was stifled before it could truly make any real, lasting change (placed within the context of the latest news on slime bucket Jeffrey Epstein and the Epstein Files).
“How Real Are AI Boyfriends?” by Lila Shapiro
I found this piece on folks in love with their AI chatbots to be fascinating, partially because of what it indicates in regard to how we navigate our romantic relationships these days.
“Artificial Intelligence Told These Women To Divorce Their Abusive Husbands” by Hallie Lieberman
And because today is apparently sponsored by the seeping of AI into every aspect of our lives, here’s an interesting read on a possibly positive outcome of certain types of AI usage.
Watch
Loki (season 2)
Yes. I know. I’m so behind on everything. But I’m so thrilled I finally got around to watching my favorite Marvel villain on a show dedicated to his redemption arc.
Also, feel free to get lost in Tom Hiddleston’s eyes. I’m already there:
Over the Garden Wall
And I’ve known of this one for years, but a client finally convinced me to watch it and it is the best sort of mildly creepy and effed up.
Do
’Tis the Season for Transanta!
I know. I shout this one out every year. But for real. Deliver gifts to trans youth in need, safely and anonymously.
Consider DIY-ing some of your holiday gifts.
In the past, I’ve embroidered ornaments for friends and family and baked cakes. I’d love to know, what are some gifts you’ve DIY’d for your loved ones?

Those new photos are amazeballs!! I like the ones with the black top the best 😍
